MICHELIN Tyre Sealant due to Launch
1
A lot of car manufacturers are no longer supplying spare tyres in cars so drivers and manufacturers are looking for alternative solutions to enable cars to get back on the road as soon as possible in the event of a puncture.
Michelin, together with Argentinian licensee, Bardhal, have developed a tyre sealant in an aerosol can which is a temporary repair – re-inflating the tyre to a safe level to allow the car to be driven to the nearest tyre dealer where an expert can implement a permanent solution. Invariably the puncture will happen at a time when the weather is bad or the situation is dangerous so the tyre sealant has been developed to meet this requirement.
The tyre sealant works by dispensing a latex foam and gas into the tyre. The latex foam works to seal the puncture and the gas inflates the tyre. Before driving the car the driver should check that the tyre pressure is at least 0.8 bar, the minimum pressure acceptable; the car should be driven straight to the tyre dealer. The car should not be driven at speeds greater than 80 Kilometres per hour until a permanent solution has been found. One aerosol can covers all tyres sizes up to and including 17 for passenger cars.

With most tyre sealants on the market, you can’t keep a safe pressure after a puncture without using an inflation device to re-inflate the tyre – the MICHELIN tyre sealant has a unique quality in that it gives the same performance as a tyre sealant and inflation device combination by sealing the tyre and inflating it to a safe pressure.
The MICHELIN tyre sealant is due for launch in early 2014. It will initially be sold in Argentina but MLL are currently working with its network of licensees to expand sales into other territories.
Happy to ask any of our Roadstaff to give the product a try. (self included). As soon as you have the means we might even consider “buying” some to support a Tyre Sales promotion. We will be very focused on our RFT range mid-year
