Michelin produce their first eco-friendly sole with Ecoalf
0
We used March 18th, Global Recycling Day, to announce an innovative new partnership with sustainable footwear brand, Ecoalf.
Together we have developed an eco-friendly new sole, the first to be made from re-used rubber recovered from the sole manufacturing process.
A clear example of our commitment to sustainability using a process which cuts down on the amount of raw materials used, limits waste and cuts CO2 emissions and water consumption.
Together we’ve saved:
14.773 TONNES OF CO2 EQ EMISSIONS and 384.188 LITERS OF WATER!
The new unisex loafers are suitable for day-to-day wear and combine style and comfort, with longevity and high performance.
The sole design was inspired by MICHELIN Pilot Sport tyres and made using 20% re-used scrap rubber which would normally be wasted during the sole making process, whilst the upper is made from a fabric knit using “Ecoalf Ocean” yarn, made from re-cycled bottles collected from the bottom of the ocean.
