Welcome to Lifestyle
Christian Delhaye

Can you believe it’s March 2014 already?! Looking back on 2013, we had a very successful year in MLL – there were a number of new licensees who we’re delighted to be working with:

  • Finatech in France
  • NFA in China
  • Bardahl in Argentina
  • Pylon who are now working closely with licensees in the UK and China to distribute Wiper Blades.

Despite the continued difficult market conditions, especially in Europe, we’ve recorded a big growth for our activity with double figure percentage increases in both revenue and sales. Because our mission is to enhance and multiply the number of consumer interactions with the MICHELIN brand, MLL achieved its objective, with the help of all of its licensees worldwide.

For 2014 we have some very interesting projects in both the vehicle accessories and footwear categories. We’ll soon be in a position to reveal these projects to you in future issues of this Newsletter. In this issue I encourage you to discover Remington in our regular ‘Spotlight’ section, an American licensee who began working with MLL in 2004. Today, after 10 years, Remington is launching a new range of car mats, which are clearly differentiated in the market and we are very proud for them to carry the MICHELIN logo.

The michelin-lifestyle.com website has also now been launched, covering the vehicle and footwear categories. And let’s not forget the Intranet site where Michelin’s 110,000+ employees can learn more about Michelin Lifestyle and become more and more great ambassadors for our programme.

You will also find a very innovative and surprising story in this issue – who would have thought that it was possible to sell MICHELIN shoes in the tyre dealer arena?! Well, that’s what Mexican licensee Comercer has achieved. Victor and Oscar Aguado demonstrated that we can gain a ‘foothold’ (pardon the pun!) in this area. This reminds me of a famous quote from American author, Mark Twain, “They didn’t know it was impossible, so they did it!” – I propose this quote as our orientation for a successful 2014!
