SMTC have other brands of electric bikes in their fleet but after success test they decided to add the MICHELIN electric bike because of its longer battery life and because of their locality to the Michelin headquarters which is based in Clermont-Ferrand. They will consider purchasing some more bikes in the 2nd half of this year.
As well as SMTC offering the MICHELIN electric bike, the council of Clermont-Ferrand have bought 11 electric bikes for their employees to use to travel around Clermont-Ferrand. The idea is to provide the bikes because in Clemont-Ferrand it is traditionally difficult to park and it is also hilly so the bike is a good solution. It also demonstrates an environmental message to the people of Clermont.
