The first half of 2014 is nearly past us before we know it! Time is certainly flying!
The business situation is contrasting between the zones. If we can confirm the situation is good in the US, we have to acknowledge that Europe is still in an uncertain moment especially considering the poor result from the last winter. Continuing with the seasonal theme, globally, MLL is in a much sunnier environment the worldwide business is on target and we are closely following many interesting projects, for example:
- tyre sealant launch in South America
- wiper blades in the UK and China
- a new footwear business starting to work on MICHELIN-branded soles
You will discover in this Newsletter an interesting development which I just mentioned above the new footwear business working on MICHELIN-branded soles with Jihua Vestar International (JV International). I personally welcome them into our family of licensees and we look forward to working with them on this exciting project.

With regards to our Communications activities; in the last issue of this Newsletter we announced the appointment of Ajay Solanki (Digital Communications Manager). Ajay is now fully on-board and working on accelerating the development / implementation of our digital strategy. The michelin-lifestyle.com website was launched in March, and Ajay is working to improve this and all aspects of our digital activities. With Ajay now working along with Michaela Burn and Martin Gregory in the Central Communications team, as well as our regional communications team members we have a real internal network for Communications.
On a final note, I would like to wish each one of our Michelin colleagues a wonderful summer – except of course for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere who have already enjoyed their summer!
