ISPO is the world´s largest winter trade show for sporting goods which took place in Munich in February. With over 2,700 international exhibitors presenting their newest products from the fields of outdoor, ski, performance sports and health & fitness, it attracts over 85,000 visitors from 110 countries.

This year the exhibition hosted a number of product launches in the outdoor footwear category including  Aku, Columbia, Hanwag, Hi-Tec, Mammut, Nordica, Ride and Salewa, all featuring a Michelin Technical Sole.

Each Brand had their own exhibition stand with an impressive Michelin presence and the event attracted extensive media coverage.

However it was Mammut and Nordica who stole the limelight by winning an ISPO award for their highly innovative and technological features.

The Mammut Nordwand Light Mid GTX is the first shoe to introduce Michelin Fibre Lite technology, an advanced solution that uses a high temperature rubber compression molding process to produce lighter and thinner soles. The product is dedicated to mountaineering and provides traction and stability in winter conditions and on mixed terrains thanks to a sole inspired by Michelin rally tyres.

The Nordica Strider Pro 130 DYN boot is the first ski boot on the market to use soles inspired by the Michelin Latitude X-Ice North 4×4 tyre to provide traction on icy terrain at temperatures down to -30 degrees as well as stability and lateral control and durability. The product is for downhill skiers who also want comfort and versatility and the ability to be active out on the slopes.

“We are extremely proud that an authoritative jury as the one of ISPO decided to give two important awards to our partners. Mammut and Nordica have chosen to co-design their shoes together with us and equip them with MICHELIN technical soles. It’s also recognition for the innovative approach at the base of our project: transferring the know-how of MICHELIN from tyres to the world of the top-performing soles.” said Andrea de Pascale, Head of Marketing & Partnership Development at JV International for Michelin Technical Soles.

All products launched will be available to buy at retail in September 2017.
