Etnies and Michelin team up to reinvent the classic Marana shoe
0Etnies and Michelin have entered into a partnership to reinvent the classic Marana skateboarding shoe, using racing tyre rubber perfected by Michelin as the foundation for the outsole.
Before revamping the Marana, Etnies team rider Chris Joslin was averaging 23 days of skating for each pair of Maranas, showing the Etnies team it was time to create a more durable skate shoe.
Michelin took the challenge of making the Etnies Marana outsole more durable, and set to work conceptualizing a sneaker that not only performed above and beyond expectations, but also kept the spirit and design of Etnies.
Using the Michelin rally racing PC00, the Etnies Marana has been turned into a piece of long-lasting, light and slip-resistant footwear, which offers unmatched durability, perfect control, superior adherence and maximum flexibility for a superior board feel.
The result? The Marana OG. A shoe that in clinical tests has proven to last 3 times as long as the original Marana.
Choosing Etnies has been important for us because it provides the opportunity to work with experienced skateboarders to develop a durable product, one that will bring great advantages to the whole community. In addition, the partnership represents a new young and dynamic market with enormous growth potential for Michelin, says Filippo Sartor, Partnership Development Manager at JV International for Michelin Technical Soles.
The new Etnies Manara with a Michelin outsole will be available on etnies.com and at finer skate shops worldwide from July 2017.
