Welcome to this final issue of the Michelin Lifestyle newsletter for 2016. As another successful year draws to an end its time to look back on our achievements for this year and look forward and plan our ambitions for the next year.
Michelin Lifestyle continues to support the Michelin Group missions by introducing new consumers to the Michelin brand through its range of vehicle accessories, footwear and heritage products. Many of the products we license contribute towards better mobility, enhance consumer experiences and use the materials, technology and expertise that Michelin are known for in tyres.
Its been another busy year for product launches and recognition awards with the produit de lannée for the new Michelin Tyre Sealant in France, an ISPO performance award for the Salewa Ultra Train GTX trail running shoe and new products including Babolat Jet and Fury tennis shoes, car care and cleaning range, Uniqlo heritage T-shirts, Bib camion, SOS Grip and Easy Grip evolution, to name but a few. Thanks to the great work and commitment from all our licensees with MLL support, many more new and innovative products, including over 20 new technical soles are on the horizon for next year which we cant wait to tell you about.
Michelin Lifestyle have also strengthened and expanded its team both in areas of communication, to support new digital initiatives and platforms and a content driven marketing approach, and a new structure in Europe will support ambitious growth plans for the business.
Both developments reflect the fast pace at which our business is growing and evolving. Today we have 39 people working around the world for Michelin Lifestyle.
Not all has been positive however. Economic difficulties such as a fall in the pound sterling exchange rate following the UK Brexit, and shockingly high inflation rates above 40% and falling consumer confidence in South America have made it even harder to achieve our common goals.
However, we remain positive for 2017. We again have together some ambitious growth plans and a strong team and products to help us achieve them.
For some countries we await the harshness of winter, bringing with it snow and icy road conditions so our new snow socks and snow chains can really prove themselves. Others may be enjoying the pleasures of summer, a time to be outdoors, cleaning cars and going for long hikes.
Finally, I hope you enjoy reading this MLL newsletter and for those of you taking a break, would like wish you and your teams a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year in 2017… a little bit in advance for our Asian colleagues and partners.
